An American in Uganda

Read http://mulkatime.blogspot.com/2012/01/two-worlds-collide.html about an American man teaching English in Uganda.

Post a response to your own blog, answering these two questions:
1. What different points of view do we see in this story?
2. Explain the reasons behind the miscommunication that occurred between these two men.

  1. About the first question: what is the different points of view do we see in this story?

We can see two different lifestyles, the citizen lifestyle of the white man and the rustic lifestyle of the black one, in the text we recognize the daily routine of each one, both are in the same place, but they haven't the same way of living, the white man has a mentality of work very different than the vision of hard work that has the black men, one of them think about progess by capitalism and the other maybe doesn't know what this word means, the white man can not tolerate the black men for this reason, their worlds are not the same.

And about the second question: explain the reasons behind the misscommunication that occurred between these two men:
The misscomunication that ocurred betwen these two men is normal in the way as we understand it like a clash of customs:both are separated by class, by education, by lenguage and the principal difference:their culture, they live different lives, as the autor said: "they always will", it means that the black men and the white one always try to understand each other but it fail all the time, they live in different circles.

  2. This is a story that shows a reality of our society. Two people who belong to different worlds meet. One of them is a teacher, who cames from a city of the USA,the most powerful country in the world; and the other one comes from a town in Uganda, Africa, an undeveloped continent.
When people like these two men meet, confrontations and misunderstandings are very common. The white man sees the black man with contemp and every single thing that the black man does is annoying for the white man. He says that the black man doesn´t let him work and he doesn´t even realize that the black man is just doing his job, that is what he do for living. It seems like the white man has a cold heart and has no compassion for the poor black man.
Maybe this attitude proyected by the white man is just a reflection of the stereotypes about africans. American people think that africans are inferiors. whatever, the reasons behind all these miscomunication include the stereotypes about the different cultures, the education, the place they came from, and a lack of tolerance. This is how our society works, and it will keep being like these for a long time.
